Ascendant is owned by the Cejas family, which has strong roots in the greater Miami business community, as well as specific experience in growing successful companies in the insurance sector. In the mid 1990’s the Cejas family owned Care Florida (a Miami based managed care company), which grew to become one of the 10 largest Hispanic-owned companies in the United States prior to its sale.
The Company is reinsured with some of the largest and well capitalized reinsurers in the world. Currently, the company’s reinsurance coverage is provided by Gen Re (AM Best rated A++ “Superior” with capital in excess of $14 billion) and Maiden Re (AM Best rated A- “Excellent” with capital in excess of $1.1 billion).
